January Annual Fundraising Event: “How to Have Your Best Year Ever”

Feb 19: “Holistic Therapies” 6:30-8:30

Dr. Debbie Novick shares how complementary support is available for grief & trauma through a variety of  holistic therapies including chiropractic, Bach flower remedies, homeopathic remedies and NET.

March 19: “How EMDR Helps with the Trauma of Losing a Child” 6:30-8:00

The focus of EMDR is the resolution of emotional distress arising from a traumatic experience. Bereaved parent and therapist Peggy Macy LCSW with share how this unique and effective modality can support the traumatic experience of losing a child or a loved one.

April 16: “A Night at the Theatre – “Rabbit Hole” 6:30-8:30

This insightful play is about a family that lost their young son. FHF staff psychologist Dr. Lori Rappaport
consulted with the director and actors, and along with Dr. Ken Druck will facilitate a discussion after the show.

May 21: “Grief – Anger – Relationships: Can Drumming Help?” 6:30-8:00

Through percussion we will learn about creating safe channels for expressing anger and also about group dynamics and relationships. This experiential workshop facilitated by international speaker and music therapist Barbara Reur, PhD, no experience necessary!

June 18: “How Men Grieve & How We Can Support Them” 6:30-8:30

Join Dr. Ken Druck and and special guest panel of authors, speakers and therapists who specialize in working with men as they share concrete strategies for grieving men and the family and friends who love and support them.

July 16: “How Meditation Helps us Survive the Loss of a Loved One” 6:30-8:30

Join Zen Center of San Diego teacher Elizabeth Hamilton for an experiential evening where we will explore how the ancient practice of meditation can help us deal with the pain, anguish and suffering associated with losing a child or a loved one.

August 20: “Grief , Trauma & Loss—How Acupuncture Can Help” 6:30-8:30

Join licensed acupuncturists Gretchen Seitz & Deb Davies share with us how this ancient healing art can assist the body with grief and trauma in a way that brings relaxation, balance and spiritual peace.

Sept 17: “Recognizing Complicated Grief” 6:30-8:30

Grief Specialists Dr. Sid Zisook & Dr. Tamara Wetherell share what complicated grief is and how to recognize the signs and symptoms.

Oct 15: “Getting Through the Holidays – an evening of hope & healing grief” 6:30-8:00

Join FHF and special guest bereavement specialist Lavon Switzer for a workshop that will provide assistance in developing a strategic plan for navigating the already difficult holiday season with self-care & compassion.

Nov 19: “Faith & Loss” 6:30-8:00

Tragic loss can often bring up many questions surrounding faith and grieving. Join us for a panel discussion facilitated by local chaplains and clergy representing a cross section of faiths.

Dec 17: “Holiday Gathering” 6:30-8:00
